heyyyyy!!!
okay i just came back frm iium debate competition i was at since like, last fri and omg i had an awesome five day trip ever. i mean considering it was for a purely debate slash competition i think it qualified as "i had some fun" ^^
so yeah after my exams on friday, we left frm sch on the stf bus (we shared, we paid too!) like omg, these ppl are so quiet, the sigs ppl were like so noisy and and and we talk way too loud then the bm debate girls were going "shhh shhh." wayy irritating. like who cares righy? so anyways, we reached kinda late the we have to walk highhhh up to the hostel mahallah nusaibah or something, where we would be staying for the next 5 days. and it kinda rained earlier so the grass and road was like all flooding. urgh. then when we reached the usher just left us. us the english debators while the rest of the ppl got into their rooms. i mean she did ask us to wait and shit but after 10 minutes she still wasnt ANYWHERE to be seen -yes, even after we shouted help- so we tried finding our way and hurray we did XD so we had fifteen minutes to get ready for the welcoming dinner cause we were already late so yeah then everyone met down at the CAC hall (oh yeah one thing the campus? its huge. HUGE no way beyond huge. in abel camoen's words.. MASSIVE WEI!!) so yeah so we went to the dinner thing and the food was uh okay la.
so next day. DEBATE day urghhhhh. so okay we woke up at like. 3 am thinking it was 5 oredy then realizing it it was 3 so we went back to sleep but then at 4.45 hui hui -who was sharing the top bunk bed with me- woke up and went moths moths!! and okay no joke ppl there were at least like 20 odd HUGE moths flying ard. uber scary. so everyone was screaming like primary sch kids, shame to say me too -=grin=- and i think we woke the entire hostel. anyways, luckily michelle brought the incest spray thing so yeah. kudos to simren for saving the day! then since we couldnt sleep anymore, we decided to take a shower get ready and okay. the toilet? it isnt really clean and everything but heck its a hostel toilet anyways, overall.. without a doubt i can say teh worse thing about the trip? cold water in teh morning is NOT COOL. no. okay the water was damnnn fucking cold. i cant think and tehn all of ur were screaming again. i was like swearing like mad personally. so yeah we got ready and headed to the debate venue. after breakfast we had to walk to the main audi where we had the roll calls and motion relases and stuff the entire comp. it was far but after the trip i realized it was kinda fun dont ask me how walking can be fun but it just was. so yeah, then we had the workshop thing where fareez and ivan ,they conducted the workshop, did their thing. was would have been kinda interesting if i slept more than 3 hours the night before but whatever. one thing i realised. debating in iium and here is different a lot different. i mean they encourage casual clothes but we stuck to blazers and ties anyways. and instead of the whole "gd afternoon honourable adjudicators and accurate timekeepers blah blah" they skipped to ,in st xavier's words, "mr speaker and memebers of the most aghast house" we were like fuyyoooo. lmfao. and ppl there talk real fast. even the uni debators, they had a like demo debate where the uni debators debated. and man they talk fast. wayy fast.oh and there was this one uni debater, tres cute. but he was an adjudicator as well so yeah. :( but he was sooo cute. anyways, he adjudicated the first round we had and tht was the worse round. we went against kys. and the girls especially the second speaker. was super bitchy. i mean bitchy. almost everyone there agreed with me okay. and michelle lost her temper and when the girl poi-ed she went "sit down you deformed species" and "sit down you stupid idiot" she also called them baboons. in the debate!! hahahah but she made my day. serious. even the cute adjudicator was laughing. so anyways, we lost three and won three rounds. average i guess. better than our expectations but altho we tot we could do better we were satsified. oh and and and there was this other adjudicator, damnnn funny guy he dresses like a inside out shirt, folded pants (banjir style), flip flops. it was so weird. he reeks of cirgg and chews gum. has curly hair and a moustache and goatee and all. hahaha but everyone respects him he's a damnnnn good adjudicator even tho he swears in his speech but heck he;s good. u can defianately relate to him. i actually offered him gum after he judged our round 5 (we won ^^) and said no thanks i got my own and i was like SOOO bengang okay. maluated like no ones business BUT BUT BUT. the next day during the semi finals i think, we wnet to observe st xavier versus kys and tehn he came and was like "hey sarah right, got gum?" and i was like mid chewing so i took it out and went here and he was like uhh no thanks. haha! then hui hui gave him some and the went " oh cheers tahnks " hhaha he's funny. maybe he felt bad for rejecting my gum hah!so yeah masai. funny guy. so uhhuh. so many things happened. i made friends and everything. iium is not bad really. i mean walking ard the campus, skipping meals.. was kinda fun plus the whole debate stress. i mean we debated frm morning to midnight. it was really stressful but definately an exprience i was super lucky to have got. oh and the st xavier's won. big surprise there -=note the sarcasm=- and we ran into them klcc they're nice ppl. humble considering tht they've won three times in a row. so yeah. kudos to chee beng tatt, roshan and mattheus. you guys are good. :]
so ppl. i doubt anyone would read this. its long. i didnt really include everything and honestly, words cant describe how fulfilling this debate comp has been. i miss iium! and sooo look forward to next year ^^
